WALKS AROUND MONTFERRAND-DU-PERIGORD

The short walk (about 50 minutes) - green and white markings.

DEPART : in front of the « mairie » - car parking in the village square or after the church. Walk downhill, after the school, turn left. The markings start. At the bottom of the hill, go into the woods. The path leads you to the twelfth century St Christophe church. Inside the church, remarkable medieval wall paintings resume the principal themes of religious iconography of the period. Go round by the left, the path goes into the woods again after crossing a field and brings you back to the village, coming out under the château ramparts.

The long walk (2 routes A and B) - green and black markings.

DEPART A and B : Post Office - car parking. Walk towards the « stade municipal ». The markings start. The walk runs along the valley and after crossing the Couze stream, comes out on the D26.

Here an information board proposes the 2 routes :- Route A - about 2 hours - follow the markings -Route B - about 3 hours. Beware : if you take this route you have to follow the D26 for 1500m. After 1000m you will pass a farm called « La Rivière » (you will see the sign « Accueil à la ferme » in front of it). Continue another 500m and you will see the path in the woods. Please note : when following these paths, you will see other markings, in paticular the red and white ones corresponding to the G.R. Do not take these markings to guide you - follow the green and white or green and black ones.
